Retail and office construction
Commercial tenants measure a building in weeks to opening. The construction decisions that matter are the ones that affect when someone can start trading.
Chapter 01
Shell or finished suite
The first decision on retail is how far the building goes before a tenant takes it on. A shell hands over a weatherproof envelope with services brought to a point and lets the tenant fit out. A finished suite hands over something ready to occupy.
Neither is automatically right. It depends on whether tenants are signed, how specific their requirements are, and who is carrying the cost of the fit-out. Deciding early keeps the drawings coherent.

Storefront and signage coordination
The storefront is the part of a retail building that does the commercial work, and it is where the most parties have an opinion: the owner, the tenant, whatever brand standards apply, and the local sign rules.
Signage needs blocking, power and often data run to it, and all of that is far easier before the wall closes up. Asking where the signs go while the framing is still open avoids a lot of later surgery.
Chapter 03
Getting a tenant trading on schedule
A retail tenant has a date, and the date usually has a lease and staff hiring attached. That makes the sequence toward handover the thing to protect, particularly the long-lead items and anything requiring an outside connection or inspection.
Knowing which items have long lead times and ordering them early is unglamorous and is most of what keeps an opening date intact.
